Floating Stones – Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu

Located on Pamban Island, and separated from the Indian mainland by the Pamban Channel, the little town of Rameshwaram has great significance in Hindu mythology. It is from here that Rama is believed to have built a bridge across to Lanka to rescue Sita. Stones used to build this bridge had Rama’s name engraved on them and they never sank in water. The curious fact is that such ‘floating stones’ are still found around Rameshwaram!- Incredible India !
